Some people cannot be helped, even if they are your roommate. When you're in those early adulthood years, living with someone else your age is often a necessity, but these relationships can easily crumble. For one, you and your roommate are both figuring out the kind of lifestyle you want and the kind of living arrangement that makes the most sense for you. There will inevitably be conflict, whether it's as small as someone needing to do the dishes more, or something as high-stakes as staying out of one another's personal space unless they have been granted permission to enter.

Most of these conflicts can be avoided if both parties have a decent amount of self-awareness and respect for one another, but the vast majority of people in their late teens or early twenties are not exactly mature enough just yet.
